CLEVELAND — An Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper has died after he was hit by a passing car during a traffic stop.
Trooper Kenneth Velez, 48, was conducting the stop and was hit outside his patrol vehicle, NewsNet5 reported.
“This is a tragedy for the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Department of Public Safety,” said Colonel Paul Pride, Ohio State Highway Patrol Superintendent. “Our prayers go out to the Velez family during this difficult time.”
Velez is survived by three children.
