I am a CO in Iowa. My understanding is that I am covered under HR 218, Public Law 108-277 AKA as Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act. I have a non-professional CCW permit in the state of Iowa. Our facility will not let us carry our professional CCW permit during off working hours. They lock them up between shifts. I have my state ID and badge, but not the 218 ID card. I also have FL, NV, UT, PA and MN NR CCW permits. I can legally carry in every state except IL. If an Illinois office stopped me for a simple traffic violation, say 72/65, how likely would it be that he would arrest and charge felony gun possession? I realize that it depends on the officer, but in general. Really looking forward to responses from IL sworn LEO's. It's my understanding that in IL CO's are LEO. In Iowa they are not.
